Frequently Asked Questions

What widths are available, and how long is each roll?

Each roll is 10 metres long and 2mm thick. You can select from ten widths: 10mm, 12mm, 15mm, 20mm, 25mm, 30mm, 40mm, 50mm, 75mm, and 100mm.

Is this strip suitable for outdoor use?

Yes. The EPDM neoprene compound offers excellent resistance to UV light, weathering, and temperature extremes from −40°C to +70°C, making it well suited to both indoor and outdoor environments.

How does the self-adhesive backing work?

The strip has a pressure-sensitive adhesive on one side protected by a peel-off backing paper (yellow or white). Simply clean and dry the surface, peel the backing, and press the strip firmly into place. The surface must be smooth, clean, dry, and free of oil or grease for best adhesion.

Is the sponge rubber waterproof?

Yes. The expanded closed-cell structure means the cells are sealed, preventing water absorption and making it effective as a weatherproof seal.

Can it be used in vehicles such as vans, caravans, or boats?

Yes — this strip is widely used in automotive, marine, and leisure vehicle applications for door seals, hatch sealing, draught exclusion, and vibration damping. It is not suitable for areas with direct exposure to petrol, oil, or solvents.

Are there tolerances I should be aware of before ordering?

Yes. Width tolerance is ± 1.0mm for strips up to 25mm wide, and ± 1.5mm for strips from 25.1mm to 100mm wide. Thickness tolerance for the 2mm strip is ± 0.28mm. These are standard manufacturing tolerances for sponge rubber products.

* This material is not recommended for direct exposure to petrol, oil, or solvents.

* Ensure the application surface is smooth, clean, dry, and free of oil or grease prior to bonding.

* Due to the compressible nature of sponge rubber, small tolerances in width and thickness are inherent to the material. The above figures are average values — we recommend verifying suitability for your specific application before use.
