Typical Applications
Trusted Across Industry, Trade, and DIY
This 10mm thick self-adhesive sponge rubber strip is widely used wherever a compressible, waterproof, and durable seal or cushion is required. Its closed-cell structure prevents moisture ingress, while the pressure-sensitive adhesive backing allows rapid, clean installation on most surfaces.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is this strip made from?
It is made from expanded neoprene/EPDM closed-cell sponge rubber. The closed-cell structure means it does not absorb water, making it suitable for outdoor and wet environments.
Is the adhesive strong enough for outdoor use?
Yes. The pressure-sensitive adhesive is designed for firm bonding to most clean, dry surfaces. The material itself has excellent resistance to UV light and weathering, making it well suited to outdoor sealing applications.
What temperature range can this strip handle?
The strip operates reliably between -40°C and +70°C, covering the full range of typical UK outdoor and industrial conditions.
How much does the strip compress?
At 25% deflection the compression resistance is 45 kPa, and at 50% deflection it is 100 kPa. The compression set (permanent deformation after sustained compression) is 25% maximum, meaning it retains good recovery after prolonged loading.
Can I cut the strip to a shorter length?
Yes. Each roll is 5 metres long and can be cut to any required length using scissors or a sharp knife. The self-adhesive backing remains effective on cut sections.
Is this strip suitable for use in vehicles?
Yes. It meets the FMVSS 302 flammability standard (burn rate below 100mm/min) and is commonly used in cars, vans, trucks, caravans, boats, and trailers for sealing, sound damping, and vibration isolation.
